Dr. Loewen spent 10 years in the Nuclear Navy, then went on to attain his Masters in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1992. After 5 years with an environmental firm as Director of their nuclear applications program, he returned to UW-M for his Ph.D. in Engineering Physics. He is employed by the Idaho National Laboratory researching Generation IV reactor systems, however, is currently serving as the ANS Seaborg Congressional Fellow for Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE)working on legislation regarding Global Climate Change.

Dr. Eric Loewen holds a PhD in Engineering Physics from the University of Wisconsin, where he also received a MS in Nuclear Engineering. According to his Marshall Institute bio, Loewen spent 2005 "in the office of Senator Charles Hagel, where he was the senator's chief advisor on climate change, and he currently works at the Idaho National Laboratory. Dr. Loewen is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Nuclear Society and was the recipient of the Society's Public Communication Award in 2003."
